Hiya all first post..............

Missus went to newcastle yesterday in the galaxy going along the motorway and lost all power, lights the whole lot was as if the car had been turned off.

The breakdown service came had a look under the bonnet and said on a fuse board two fuses had melted and fused together.

She got towed to her mates house and was to go see garages this morning to see if could be fixed.

Went to the car this morning and it started first time shes been driving around a few garages to see if can be fixed and has said its driving fine no blips or power loss its as if nothin is wrong with it.

Any ideas ???? some one said to her the board with the fused fuses has something to do with memory, ecu maybe ???

Something like this happened to our car and it turned out the the alternator fudse had gone and it had generated enough heat to melt the box/and also a loom further on down the wire....forgot to say welcome to our little forum..loads of friendly helpful faces here.

do a search for the main feed fuse box..may help.

Hopefully she makes it back tommorow wether driving it or on the back of a tow truck.

Right.....before our car came to a total standstill and cost 156 to repair...i had a look under the bonnet as we had all the lights flashing in the dash and various (practically all)warning lights were on.I was on the phone to my dads who used to be a mechanic and he sed to check all fuses first.the car would start but after a while it would just die..even at revs it would die.so i checked the main fuse feed box which in our car is a little black box under the bonnet.in that box is a fuse which has a big black cable leading from it.the fuse for that cable had blown and had been arcing.as a consequence the box melted a wee bit and metal had fused together!!

then it wouldnt even catch after i had replaced the main fuse feed box(cost about

I replaced the main fuse feed box and the garage sorted the loom.As that was something i knew nothing about at that time.Hope tthis helps. Our loom had melted as the problem had gone on 4 a while...but if yours has only just happened ,just replacing the black box may work.Takes a couple of mins to remove the box and a couple of mins to replace.I took the box with me when i went to ford as it had the part number on it. :)
